Monastery of the Clouds
Tengboche Monastery, Nepal
The famous Tengboche Monastery floats over heavenly clouds under the shadow of Mt Everest. The monastery has been there for centuries. I climbed this ridge to get a better view of Ama Dablam and Mount Everest which are above me to the right. After the alpengow faded from Everest, I looked back down and this scene before me was even more compelling. I flipped the camera around and got a few shots before the fast moving clouds engulfed the monastery. Climbers enroute to Everest often stop here for a blessing by the local lama before they continue on to basecamp. Photo © copyright by Michael Anderson.
