Clearing Storm over Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu, Peru.

Storm clouds clear shortly after sunrise, revealing the dramatic splendor of the ancient ruins of the lost city of the Inca.  I took this image in the spring of 2010 after the heavy floods that washed out the railroad and parts of the Inca trail. The ruins were closed for months, but reopened the day before I took this image. There were hardly any people around which really added to the majesty of the experience.
