A Night to Remember

Chiang Mai, Thailand.

On the night of the full moon in November, Thailand celebrates Loi Krathong and the Yi Peng festival.  This particular night seemed to be a blend of the two festivals.  Loi Krathong traditionally refers to the release of floating candles in lotus shaped banana leaf boats onto local waterways.  Yi Peng is a floating paper lantern festival.  Here you can see the floating candles in the temple moat while at the same time the monks are releasing floating lanterns into the night sky after a beautiful ceremony of chanting. This was a truly enchanting evening and my photographs simply cannot do justice to the beauty of this culture.
