In the heart of the Santa Fe Art District in downtown Denver, this is the preeminant nature photography gallery in the Front Range! The show begins Friday July 17 and runs through September 17th, 2009. Stop by, I'd love to see you there!

Returning to The South Pacific!

I'll be returning to The South Pacific this fall, focusing my time in some of the more remote island chains. I will be researching a location that I think could make a world class WORKSHOP destination for next year.

I'll be starting off in the rugged island chain of Samoa and will make a return visit to spectacular Ofu Island in the National Park of American Samoa. Then on to the isolated atolls of Tonga where I hope to photograph some of the most dramatic coastlines in the Pacific. From there I head to the stunning and rarely visited Solomon Islands. Isolation has helped preserve the exotic Melanesian cultural traditions and this is perhaps the most authentic travel destination in the Pacific. I hope to spend a week canoeing through the New Georgia Islands and Marovo Lagoon, the largest in the world and a place so special James Michener called the 8th Wonder of the World. Then I go back to the glorious Cook Islands to try and capture a few photographs that I missed the last time around.

I'm expecting lots of adventure and hope to get some great images from a rarely photographed and exquisitely beautiful part of the world. Stay tuned for lots of new work and I will be sharing all the adventures in my travel journal!

Sorella Gallery Show in Zion National Park!

I just sent 25 of my best Large Gallery Prints to the Sorella Gallery in Zion National Park! My images are the new showcase exhibit just in time for the incredible fall season. For those that don't know this already, Zion has one of the finest displays of fall foliage in the world! The Sorella Gallery is next to the famous 'Pizza Noodle' restaurant in the heart of Springdale, Utah, the gateway to Zion. The show starts Monday, September 21.

The Samoa Earthquake and Tsunami: Dodging a bullet of Epic Proportions

We were here in Samoa on Ofu Island when the Earthquake shook us out of bed and we ran out of our lodge to avoid car size boulders crashing down from the cliffs above us. After 60 seconds, it was over, but we immediately realized the threat of a Tsunami. A full account of our experience can be found in my travel journal HERE.

Samoa Tsunami Images and more from the South Pacific.

www.michaelandersongallery.com/gallery/new-images/

I've begun posting images from our trip through the South Pacific, including a few of the Samoa Tsunami devastation. Although the trip started out on an ominous note, the tectonic activity in the Pacific finally died down and we ended up having some amazing adventures and met some wonderful people along the way. We made it through Samoa, Tonga, The Solomon Islands, The Cook Islands, and then spent a few days on Bora Bora in Tahiti at the end. This was my first foray into underwater photography and I'm glad I brought this new equipment to show you the amazing world under the surface of the South Pacific. It's a real paradise down there. I will be adding lots more new images over the next few weeks. I hope you enjoy them: Newest Images
